Based on the positive feedback we received at the hamfest, and afterwards, we are calling the 2023 Flagstaff Hamfest – the first we’ve done – a success! This was NADXA’s first hamfest, and we learned a lot. We have a list of ideas and improvements that we’ll use on future hamfests.

This couldn’t have happened without a lot of hard work on the part of many club members. A special shout out needs to go to our club president, Mike Hanks – W7QS, for his vision and leadership throughout the planning and implementation of the hamfest. Bob Wertz -NF7E was enthusiastically throwing out ideas, most of which were used, to promote the hamfest, as well as flesh out details of how the hamfest would operate. Ron Gerlak – KG7OH designed and revised our flier, and brought ideas and enthusiasm to our planning meetings. David Schaubert – NJ0W also pitched in on the flier. Larry Gilbert – WB7EUJ also brought ideas to the planning. Not only that, but Larry showed up the day of the hamfest with no less than 6 additional family members who all pitched in to help things run smoothly. Ken Held – W7SS pitched in on planning and managed the finances, ensuring we finished the hamfest in the black. Ken also provided computer support during the hamfest. Lou Arminio – W7KFT designed and maintained our web site to provide communications on the many details that we thought people who were planning to come would need to know.

Many other club members contributed to putting the hamfest together in both planning, and day-of implementation, including:

Carlos AA7CF, Reinhard K7RGG, Tom KG7DKN, Pete KI7ZWP, Jon KJ7OOR, Harry KK7IUJ, Keith KR7RK, Jim N6DHZ, Jim N6KZ, Jack NT7MM, Dave W7FYW, Ingrid W7ISG, Larry WB7EUJ, Mark WB8VWC.

In addition to club members, we got a lot of support from family and friends, including Suzanne, Beth, Lori, Darren, Trish, Jordan, Ethan, Chris, Carole, Todd and Mark.

We really appreciated the help we received from Scout Master Hiring and troop 142!

We are grateful to ARCA for being an official partner for the hamfest, and for the support of many great presenters, who came to Flagstaff to share their wealth of knowledge and experience. The workshops were very popular and we received much positive feedback. Thank you presenters for your contribution to our Ham community and the success of the hamfest!

Last but certainly not least, we’d like to thank our many sponsors who helped with prizes, cash, and in-kind donations. You are all very much appreciated!
